St Peter's Church
At the end of a side street of the "Graben", the huge dome of St Peter's Church rises up - the church has a magnificent baroque interior. On the "Graben", a pedestrian and shopping street, you pass the Trinity Column, a plague column with gilded decorations on the base and a very beautiful group of figures. Begun by an Italian, Gabriele Montani, it was completed by the great Lukas von Hildebrandt in 1733, but its history goes back much further.
According to research, there was already a small church on this site in the early Middle Ages, and legend has it that it was founded by Charlemagne. Be that as it may - in the present day, the beautiful column is pure Baroque.
